Stratum v1.0.0-rc.80

Release candidate. It continues the Stratum 1.0 preview, and is recommended for evaluation and staging. Hold production rollouts for the stable v1.0.0 release.

The web console on every node becomes a datacenter view. It is the first step towards managing every server from one place.

Highlights

• A new web console. Open /console on a node (the node's address now takes you there):

- The whole node in a tree: machines, networks, storage, images and tenants, with a view by tenant. - Object pages with tabs, and a task bar at the bottom that follows your work live. - Search anything with Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac). - Creating a machine is a guided wizard with a summary step. "Show as command" gives the exact command-line or API call for the same machine, ready to copy.

• Graphs.

- For the node: processor, memory, disk space and network. - For each machine: processor, memory, disk and network. - They run live, and show the last hour, day, week, month or year, average or peak. - History is kept on the node in a fixed amount of space. It never grows.

• Tasks.

- Every long operation is now a task you can follow, with its progress, its log and, where possible, a Cancel button. Long operations include: - creating, starting, stopping and resizing machines; - downloading images, including byte-by-byte progress; - volumes and snapshots; - backups and restores, including byte-by-byte progress. - A task that is running when the node's service restarts is marked as interrupted, then finished or cleaned up automatically.

• Audit log.

- Every change and every sign-in on the node is recorded in a tamper-evident log, including refused attempts. - Export it, or verify it: any record changed after it was written is detected. - Secrets are never recorded. - It is available in the console, over the API, and from the command line (cenvero-str-ctl audit list|export|verify).

• Live updates. The console follows changes as they happen, and catches up without missing anything after a dropped connection.

New in the API and command line

• GET /api/v1/tasks, and a task's details, log and cancel.
• GET /api/v1/resources and /api/v1/nodes.
• Graph data, and GET /api/v1/audit with export and verify.
• The event stream can be resumed.
• Operations that start a task return it.
• New commands: cenvero-str-ctl task list|show|log|cancel and cenvero-str-ctl audit list|export|verify.
• Tenant-scoped versions give customers their own tasks, machine graphs and activity.

Installer

• Installs with the Compute or Suite profile now switch the API and web console on by default.
• The Fabric profile is unchanged, and existing nodes are not changed.

Security

• A console session's live updates end the moment its sign-in does: on sign-out, a revoked key or an expired session.
• Customers see only their own tasks, graphs and activity. Another account's resources answer as if they did not exist.
